We would love to hear from you!
Do you share our interests? Have a collection of your own and want to compare notes? Come across a churn and want to find out more about it? Are you thinking about starting a collection? Looking to sell or trade? Have a nice dairy antique and want to picture it on the site? Have company literature or advertisements that fill some gaps? Please get in touch!
If you are interested in the value of an item probably the best advice is to watch Ebay for a couple weeks. That is what items are currently selling for and the best indicator of value. Remember though the item needs to sell. Any one can list an antique with a high starting price but if no one buys it that does not make it valuable. Likewise any website can publish an astronomical sale but you don't know the situation (or if it is even true) and if that price can ever be repeated. There is an internet reference to the sale of one stoneware barrel churn with damage for 1200 dollars. We have purchased or sold this same churn in great condition at least five times for less than 200 dollars and have never seen one sell on ebay for more than that yet the 1200 dollar price has become the value for this churn. We think people forget that no one is policing the internet. While we try to research everything completely before we add it to this site that is not always true around the web. Sometimes things on the web are more opinion than fact.
We are sorry but we are not able to answer e-mails wanting to know the value of your antique. Values are very subjective and vary from sale to sale. The most important factor in determining the value of an item is condition and usually that is hard to determine by email especially without a picture. Unfortunately due to the number of emails we receive we have to screen them and emails with references to value or worth are deleted before we even see them.
If you are concerned about the authenticity of an item you are thinking of buying we would be glad to look at the item for you. We know how upsetting it is to purchase an item that is misrepresented. It seems like half of the reproduction Dazey churns on ebay say they were found at an estate sale. Then you look at the seller's history and they have sold the same reproduction multiple times. On the same note just because a seller copies and pastes from this website does not mean the item is legitimate. Everyday we see items on ebay that have links to this site or have copied text or pictures from it where the item is totally misrepresented. Just like any time you spend your money do your research about the item and the seller. There are great items and sellers on ebay but there are also some to steer clear of. Don't think ebay is watching out for you. They get the same commission whether the item is original or a reproduction, accurately described or not.
